Why are most Protein Bars Sweet?

THE SALTY BAR

The fact that the majority of the most popular bars are sweet makes me wonder the ratio between people who have a sweet tooth versus those that don’t.

I wish I could find more salty bars in the market. I wonder if this is a pain point to other people. When I usually have a pain point like this – I automatically assume there are other people as well, even if I haven’t done the proper research.

Current most popular buyer behavior for protein bars is for shoppers to search for sweet bars with low sugar content. Nowadays, I find that most people look at the sugar content on protein bars. Many prefer to buy low sugar options including those with sugar substitutes that don’t taste as good. Would a salty bar (with very low sugar content) be a desirable substitute?

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: ARE PROTEIN BAR BRANDS FUELING SUGAR ADDICTION?

I’d love to know if there are other people who would also love to have salty bar options more widely available in the market….and why or why not.
